Yogscast

YouTube is the most frequently used video hosting site in the world. It's home to wondrous amounts of  YouTube celebritys  like Pewdiepie and Tobuscus, but I'm not interested in them right now. The Group I'm thinking of is The Yogscast.

 The Yogscast is a famous YouTube group that consists of a large number of Content creators, Audio editors, Video editors and Artists. The group was formed in 2008 in World of Warcraft under the guild name Ye Ole Goon Squad (YOGS for short). The main channel consists of Lewis Brindley (Xephos) and Simon Lane (Honeydew). The main channel called 'Yogscast Main" or "Yogscast Lewis and Simon" started out as a World of Warcraft tutorial channel in which Ye Ole Goon Squad would complete quests, bosses and dungeons and upload them to YouTube. The Yogscast consists of:

Lewis Brindley


Lewis Brindley, born on October 22, 1983, is the Leader, Directer and Founder of the Yogscast. Under the Alias Xephos or sometimes BlueXephos, he stars in Minecraft series all over the Yogscast, He also appears in other Video Game series. He has a masters degree in chemistry



Simon Lane

Simon Lane, born March 14, 1978, Is Lewis' Partner in crime and best friend. He is the Glue that holds the mess of the Yogscast together also known as the "creative force", he is responsible for many catchy songs and humorous videos. He tried to get a degree in Astrophysics but dropped out before who could complete it.


Sjin

Sjin (Pronounced S-Jin, not Shin) aka Paul Sykes is a content creator and original member of Ye Ole Goon Squad. He Started creating videos in 2009 and is famous for his impressive 'Lets build' in minecraft. His Minecraft Partner Is Chris Loavasz.


Duncan

Duncan born on March 1st 1987, also known as LividCoffee or Lalna, is a content producer for the yogscast. He is one of the original members. He started off as an Artist in residence and created things in and out of minecraft.

Sips

Sips (aka Chris Lovasz) born 5th June, 1980 is an original member of the Yogscast, he originally uploaded the Yogscast podcast (Yogpod) to Itunes. He is the owner of SipsCo dirt alongside Turpster and Xephos.
He is the one of two content creators in the Yogscast to have a child (called Poopfeast420 by Yognaughts).

Games!


What's so special this AR/VR media device?



The video showcases what the company Magic Leap is claiming to have already achieved. If you watched the video you would have seen that the technology is claiming that it can create objects that are "indistinguishable" from real world objects. Maybe because the some of the objects used in the showcase video are actual objects. in other words, anything he touches and uses (like the gun) can be easily distinguished as an actual object while on the other hand some objects like the robots, tank and especially the sentry gun are all added with Weta Workshop, the company who worked on special effects in projects like 'The Hobbit' and 'District 9'.

It's a bit obvious this is all a major fluke, but is it real? what happened to the $542 Million Magic leap made? Subscribe for updates on the matter!

TendoStudios additions


Well onto a more happier note, TendoStudios has grown! we now have a few new members! Including A scripter/coder, An artist (concept, texture) and not one but two! content creators (all rounder, modeller). We are also receiving outside feedback.

Production on silent system has come to a halt for we are working on a game in a genre that hasn't seen a major addition from in years, Real Time Strategy! We're developing a game for Android and ios and we chose RTS because it's a genre we don't hear much about.
We are trying to replicate something along the lines of Age of Empires and Warhammer 40K: Dawn of war.

Unity

The Unity engine is a powerful game engine much like Unreal and the Cry Engine but there are still significant differences between the three engines.


The Unity engine is a popular choice for Indie game developers because of it's easy to use level designer. The unity engine contains a 3D viewing window which allows you to place and edit features within the game. It's also easy to import assets (Textures, Models, prefabs, scripts) Into the game. The engine does not have any easy scripting services like Gamemaker and Construct 2, which both use drag and drop like coding features. Unity Engine use javascript which can be easy to learn but hard to master.

Asset store


Unity ,like most game engines, contains pre-installed assets but there's not enough there to make a complete game. So to eliminate the hassle of creating your objects, textures and sound you can download free (and paid) assets on the built in Asset store. Are you having trouble making that angel statue model? Download it here instead! How about instead of hiring an audio artist to make your horror music, Just download it instead!

So, as you can tell, the Asset store is a major addition to any Indie developer.

Making a game

How do you make a Game?


Most people think making a game is a simple and easy process, but the development of a game can take years to make. Rushing the production of a video game can result in poor gameplay, storyline and graphics but even a game that has taken years to develop can result in a poor reviews. Some companys spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on one area of the production stage, usually marketing or engine which can result in a bad game. But some of the best games were made in only one to two years, which is nothing in gaming terms.



The stages of game development are

 

 

Pre-Production/design

-Idea/High concept

  The concept of a game is usually a brief description or idea of game mechanics. There is little to no storyline here
 

-Pitch

  The pitch is a document that says why the game should be developed, usually to make a profit



-Concept

  This document outlines the games genre, description, storyline and setting.



-Prototype

  The prototype is usually an interactive demo sort that the programmers can get an idea as to what they are working with.

Production

 

 -Design

  Everyone who is contributing to the game can input their ideas during a big meeting held by  producer. This is where sponsorships come in to play.



-Programming 

  this is the phase where  game programmers make a bunch of code to create elements of the game. many parts of the code doesn't make it into the final game, but the code may stay in the game files.


-Level creation

 The level editors make the very first level or room in the game. This first level  can take up to 12 months, because the assets are forever changing so one thing at the end of a game may prove irrelevant for the first level.


-art/audio production

  this is where all the audio and visuals are created.


-Testing

 The first people to test the early game are given a alpha copy, they give ideas to help the production and report any bugs.



Milestones

 

 -code freeze

No more new code is added to the game and only bugs are edited by highly skilled programmers.

-Beta

A playable game is released to handpicked testers, more insight is given by the testers.


-code release

All  bugs have been fixed and the game is ready to be released.


-Gold master

  The master copy of the game is stored in a high security file where no more editing can be done.




-Release

  The game is released and shipped to major store all over the globe. A launch party is usually held at major game retailers.




This whole process can take up to 6 years and a can cost millions of dollars, but the end result is usually worth it.

Tendo Studios is an Independent Game making company who focus on current trends in gaming and what fans and viewers of video games want to see. Tendo Studios Works towards achieving a fine line between boring post updates and actual updates. 


Trends

Here you will find updates in the gaming industry and our tech-driven world alike. I will try my best to inform readers of current news and affairs in the gaming world while trying to keep my games updated. 

Many people believe staying up too date can be a bit tricky at times and that is true, but if you can manage to find a well sustained and updated gaming website things shouldn't be too tricky. Websites like this include IGN and MMGN (both good gaming websites). Sometimes finding information on a specific topic can be tricky on a large website so finding a smaller website or blog related to just one topic or a whole range of topics can be easier, and smaller blogs tend to be easier to navigate. Supporting independent websites and blogs is always great because lots of people (and some viewers)Want their blog/website to become a major addition to their respected industry but just because some people want to be internet famous doesn't mean all people want to, so don't pressure the content editors.

Games Dev

Some people underestimate the time it takes to develop a game. when a large company releases a game which houses lots of bugs (an error in the games code that usually results in the parts of the game being unplayable) the target audience usually demand a patch update immediately but many people really underestimate the time it takes to locate and eliminate the bug and then after that rewrite the code to make sure the bug doesn't make it's way back into the game. Releasing an update also requires time to upload to servers all around the world so the consumers can update their game.


So...



Making a game takes a large deal of time and money, but with patience a game could create a new trend or genre, so don't pressure game developers and always sign up for beta testing so you can contribute your own ideas and became an important step in the development stage.
